Series Summary
May. 22nd, 2014 11:47 amIt is the year T.C. 4767, mankind has since expanded its reaches to outer space, living upon planets distant from Earth and also on artificial colonies established in space. Earth, as we know it now, has been wiped from all records under that name, and has come to be known as "Lost Jerusalem". Like all Cyberpunk Dystopias, there is a capital city or region. In this case, it is called "Fifth Jerusalem" and is said to be the main base of operations of our token 'Big-Brother-type Organization' that tends to happen in all Cyberpunk Dystopias. Keeping watch over humanity and ensuring that its strict rule is not being defied, at great cost should someone happen to break the rules. Standard fare Dystopian regime.
For the past fourteen years, so since T.C. 4753, humanity has been at war withGnosticism the Gnosis. There seems to be little information available on these foes. It is said that they may have been created by a scientist named Joachim Mizrahi during the Miltian Conflict which took place the same year that the Gnosis had first started to appear. Of course, Cyberpunk Dystopias being what they are, there is far more to the story than what appears on public record.
The aforementioned Miltian Conflict had ultimately resulted in the disappearance of "Old Miltia". "Old Miltia" was one of the autonomous worlds occupied by people of the Immigrant Fleet. It held the original Zohar and Labyrinthos.
The Zohar was a mysterious artifact that became of interest to several parties after it had been recovered post-Miltian Conflict. The Galaxy Federation, "aka. Token Big Brother Organization" is interested in it and its power, naturally, as is the underground Ormus Cult. It is believed that the Zohar is a combination of three things - a power source, the cause of the Gnosis, and a containment device for a powerful wave existence named U-DO. (Don't think too hard about it, it only gets worse from here.)
Basically, both groups think that it's a way to end the Gnosis and also serve as a key to UNLIMITED POWER. Of course, right?
A bunch of people had run tests on the Zohar, including the Galaxy Federation, Joachim Mizrahi(Gee where have we heard that name before?) and ANOTHER ~MYSTERIOUS~ scientist who is known simply asPETER SELLERS "Sellers" who happens to be affiliated with the aforementioned Ormus Cult and the Hyams Group.
As a result of the testing, there have been several attempts to create emulators of the Zohar, given that the original was lost fourteen years ago when Old Miltia was lost to the Abyss. (Still following this?) Even though one of the emulators did cause the planet Ariadne to vanish, the original Zohar that had been lost is, in fact, quite a bit more powerful. No emulators have been able to come even remotely close to its power.
Naturally, the Galaxy Federation and the Ormus Cult are both determined to somehow acquire the original Zohar(yes, that same one that was lost during the Miltian Conflict), because none of the emulators made have been able to even come remotely close to its power. There is a way to recover Old Miltia and the Zohar in it, however, and that is apparently through the key which can be found in the Y-Data which has been entrusted to MOMO, a Realian(organic-based living weapon). The Ormus Cult attempts to use several of dummy organizations and insiders, including the U-TIC Organization, as well as AN ENIGMATIC FIGURE NAMED ALBEDO in a series of plots to try to get the Y-Data. (Is it just me or does this already sound like a bad Saturday Morning Cartoon pitch?)
During all of this, Vector Industries, the largest corporation in EXISTENCE and the primary arms manufacturer for the Galaxy Federation, is currently researching nanotechnology to build an advanced combat android. Said android's codename is KOS-MOS. (You may have heard of her. :P )
Of course, by this point in the larger scheme of things, this is actually a pretty controversial move because androids have long since been replaced by artifical organic-based lifeforms known as Realians, which have proven far more effective in combat. Shion Uzuki, head of Vector Corporation's Research and Development, seems to think otherwise and has great plans for the KOS-MOS project, despite the naysayers. Shion, who works as a scientist aboard the starship Woglinde, winds up involved in a large conspiracy that is not only about trying to control the Gnosis problem and the original Zohar artifact, but also about reshaping mankind's destiny.
(And THAT'S just the summary for the series IN GENERAL. Are we having fun yet?)
